James Dorman

Born in Sydney, Jim studied piano to A(mus) A level and for a short time studied the flute with Victor McMahon.

Having graduated in Science (Chemistry) from UNSW he worked in the chemical and mining industries until his retirement.

In his mid 60s he undertook a music performance degree at UWA and graduated in 2012 in flute performance.

Jim sang for 15 years in the UWA Choral Society and WASO Chorus and had maintained his interest in choral singing until illness prevented further participation.

Jim also has an ABRSM diploma in flute performance having studied with both Neil Fisenden and Rupert Sherwood in Perth.

Jim currently teaches both flute and piano.

He is married with two children and has four grandchildren.

He strongly recommends the RSMC concerts to all who have an interest in music.
