John Meyer

John Meyer graduated from UWA with a BA Honours in music, then proceeded to MA and PhD. He studied piano with Alice Carrard and organ with Stan Craft, obtaining an LMusA performance diploma for piano.
He has contributed articles and book reviews to research journals as well as writing on various aspects of music in WA, including the history of music at UWA and entries for the Historical Enyclopedia of Western Australia. He was invited to launch Jean Farrant’s history of RSMC at the Club’s 80th anniversary celebration in 2006.
John has been a UWA staff member in Music and the University Library, also holding research positions at Sheffield University and ANU. He has contributed concert reviews to The West Australian and arts journals.
John was President of the Richard Wagner Society of WA from 2012 to 2016. He is an active member of the Uniting Church (including as organist and choir director), as well as club historian of the University of WA Cricket Club.
