2024 RSMC Anniversary Scholarship Recipient

The Club’s 2024 Anniversary Scholarship attracted five applicants, who were auditioned and interviewed at the end of April by Semra Lee and Darryl Poulsen.

Darryl Poulsen announced Daniel van der Moezel (organ) as the recipient of the 2024 Scholarship at the concert of Scholarship Performances on 9th June.

The chosen project is what determines the recipient. Daniel’s project includes a visit to the Sydney Organ Festival, where he will participate in a masterclass with a leading French organist, Olivier Latry, as well as attending other events in the Festival. Daniel will later present in Perth
a concert of French organ music.

Born in 2006 and raised in Perth, Daniel was home schooled for the whole of his primary and secondary education. He began playing the piano at the age of five and progressed to Grade 5 piano before switching to the pipe organ when he was fourteen. Daniel has studied under renowned organists Dominic Perisinotto and Jangoo Chapkhana, and is currently learning from Alessandro Pittorino. Since commencing his performance career in early 2022, he has played for concerts, recitals, and liturgies, collaborating with multiple orchestras and ensembles, including the West Australian Youth Orchestra, and the West Australian Charity Orchestra. He is currently in his first year of a Bachelor of Music degree at The University of Western Australia.

Daniel is an outstanding recipient of this Scholarship. We look forward to following his progress and continued music-making across Perth.
