(Annual, established 1997)

In 1997 the Royal Schools Music Club was approached by the Royal Over-Seas League, WA Branch (ROSL) with the suggestion that the Club hold an annual singing competition.

Co-operation between these two organizations has continued to this day, all prizes being donated by the ROSL, while all the organization is carried out by the RSMC. The prizes have increased over the years, due to the generosity of the ROSL.

The Royal Over-Seas League Award for Young Singers is held every year, in August, and is open to singers aged from 15 to 21 years of age.

for SINGER and ASSOCIATE ARTIST (PIANO)
(Annual, established 2022)

The Royal Schools Music Club (RSMC) announced two new awards for young musicians in 2022, the Winifred Hurford Awards for singers and associate artists (pianists)

The awards are presented to a singer and a pianist (not necessarily performing together) and are each valued at $2,000.

They are open to singers and pianists between the ages of 20 and 25.

These awards have been made possible by a very generous donation from Peter Hurford in memory of his mother. Winifred Hurford made a significant contribution to the Club, serving on its Committee between 1962 and 1977, with two years as President (1970 and 1971). She was a singer and a pianist, and often accompanied singers at Club concerts.
