Winifred Hurford Awards
for a SINGER and an ASSOCIATE ARTIST (PIANO)

It is with great pleasure that the Royal Schools Music Club (RSMC) announces two new awards for young musicians, the Winifred Hurford Awards for singers and associate artists (pianists).

The awards will be presented to a singer and a pianist (not necessarily performing together) and are each valued at $2,000. They are open to singers and pianists between the ages of 20 and 25.

The competition for these awards will be held each year on the same day as the Royal Over-Seas League Award for Young Singers (ROSL Award) Read More.

These awards have been made possible by a very generous donation from Peter Hurford in memory of his mother. Winifred Hurford made a significant contribution to the Club, serving on its Committee between 1962 and 1977, with two years as President (1970 and 1971). She was a singer and a pianist, and often accompanied singers at Club concerts.

This is an additional award to the series of scholarships and competitions offered by the RSMC.
